Kitchen trends are ever evolving with the influx of new finishes on the markets. The best trends emerging this year are;
- The colours grey
- Copper
- Mixing timbers
- Sculptural feature lights
- Bold veined stone
- Ceramic/porcelain faced joinery
SHADES OF GREY
Grey kitchens are offering a less dramatic and intense relief from the black kitchen that was trending so strongly last year. Grey kitchens are much softer, yet still maintain a high level of elegance and masculinity. As grey is still a dark colour, it still possesses all of the command and presence that a black kitchen has, however it can be much warmer and family friendly.
COPPER IN KITCHENS
This finish just keeps on keeping on. 2015 will see the use of copper continue to strengthen as a trend in kitchens. No longer just used in accessories, copper is now being used as features such as splashbacks, feature panels and tapware.
MIXING TIMBERS
The creative use of different timbers is a great kitchen trend. While this can be a bit of a tricky trend, when done well it can be absolutely breathtaking. Timber creates a sense of warmth and comfort. The key point to bear in mind when combining timbers is to make sure that the colour hue of the timbers is not too contrasting (i.e. – don’t combine a red based timber with a yellow based timber)
SCULPTURAL FEATURE LIGHTS
Sculptural and interesting feature lights create a focal point and a talking point in a kitchen. A new and exciting feature pendant can lift even the most tired of kitchens, adding an instant update. It’s good to remember that pendant lights are not necessarily “forever” items, so you can really afford to be a little bit adventurous and creative in your selection.
VEINED STONE KITCHEN BENCHTOPS
Whether natural or man-made, stone with a strong vein or pattern, is really trending in designer kitchens. With increased technology in engineered or man-made stones, the replication of the veins that occur in natural stone, are incredibly life-like. Stone with a strong vein adds personality and a point of difference. Not only this, but it creates a level of unexpected delight.
CERAMIC /PORCELAIN FACED JOINERY
This is certainly a new trend on the market in kitchens that has been popular in Europe for some time. This is a very contemporary and sleek look. Beautiful to look at with a slim profile, this look is sure to continue in popularity. The tactile nature of this material is also a lovely feature of this product, as it retains temperature well and is firm and hard to the touch. This look is best in the most modern of homes.
