The brief
At 55 Kent Street, the opportunity lay in the land itself—a rare inner-city block with the potential for something more. Rather than compromise, we chose to rebuild—creating a considered, single-level home with generous proportions, seamless flow, and strong connection to outdoor space. Designed for both families and downsizers, it balances practical living with architectural clarity.
Our approach
Set on a larger-than-average Richmond block, the design offers something uncommon: a single residence with room to breathe—no overdevelopment, just a home that sits comfortably within its streetscape. Through a complete redesign, we transformed what could have been a constrained layout into a home that feels open, light-filled, and intuitive, with improved natural light, indoor–outdoor flow, and balanced circulation throughout.
This is where design thinking matters most—turning constraints into opportunities.
