The brief

Our clients, a family of five including three teenage children, needed an update to their ageing home. The brief was to create a modern home where the family could grow together for many years to come.

Our approach

The site came with several challenges.

• Front to rear slope of over 4.5m
• North to the right side of the block
• Rear easement
• Planning restriction of maximum two storeys at any one point
• Large rear trees

We approached these challenges by locating the pool along the North side of the house, allowing the house to open around this focal point and maximise solar gain to the pool.

The pool allows us to separate the family room from the boundary and create privacy for our clients and the neighbours.
