The brief

The brief sought to replace an enclosed Californian bungalow with a contemporary home that feels open, energising and spatially generous. With family life and entertaining central to the project, the clients prioritised natural light, fluid indoor–outdoor transitions and an architectural language that balances restraint with moments of expression. Environmental performance and contextual sensitivity were integral to the design intent.

Our approach

The architecture is shaped by orientation and light, with a clear linear plan that opens living spaces to the garden. Carefully framed openings, layered thresholds and a material palette create a sense of calm continuity throughout the home. Architecture and landscape work together to define spaces that feel both grounded and expansive, resulting in a family home that is quietly expressive and enduring.
