The brief

When Janelle & Chris approached Destination Living they asked for a large forever home for their growing family. Having lived on the Ringwood site for 12 years they were passionate about remaining in the area and knew which features of the block they wanted to maintain.

This downwards sloping block boasts “Big Sky” views to the North and West, and throughout the concept process, Janelle, emphasised the need to be able to make the most of the views to the changing weather patterns & impressive sunsets

Our approach

Reverse living was a must for this design. The Kitchen, Lounge, Dining and Snug all look out through floor to ceiling windows and stacker doors onto the entertaining deck and out to our clients’ treasured views. This brightly lit space is open and inviting with Relaxed modern interiors informed by the gable weatherboard façade. A white and grey palette are enhanced by subtle curves and timber pops including engineered flooring by Woodcut allow for the spaces to recede back letting the view take centre stage.

The Kitchen features an entertainers bench clad in Porta Contours Strata and over hung by MUD designs Dome ceramic pendant lighting. Included is a generous pantry to service the growing family.

MUD designs is a favourite of our client and their Dome pendant lights also feature in the stairwell, entry and Master bedroom.

Our clients wanted to situate the Master Bedroom and Study to the front of the house to allow monitoring of visitors as the kids move into their teenage years. A guest bedroom is situated off the main living area and an ensuite is cleverly incorporates into the upstairs powder room via a secret door created with Porta Contours Pinnacle.

Glass balustraded stairs down to the lower level allow for a light filled study area and rumpus leading to the children’s bedrooms. Tucked under the stairs is a stunning lockable wine cellar for our clients’ collection.
