Our approach

This contemporary two-storey residence in Balwyn North has been conceived as a long-term multigenerational family home, uniting parents, adult children, and future grandchildren within one thoughtfully zoned design.

The architectural layout centres around an established tree, which becomes the focal point of a landscaped courtyard separating the main residence from a self-contained rear wing. This central courtyard not only brings light and greenery deep into the home but also acts as a communal space — a tranquil setting defined by water features, layered planting, and generous alfresco areas.

The rear wing provides a retreat, while maintaining visual and physical connection to the main home through an enclosed corridor. Each space has been planned to foster privacy, comfort, and independence, with shared outdoor areas that encourage daily interaction.

Within the main home, spaces are arranged around family life — open-plan living and dining areas, a kitchen designed for gatherings, retreat zones for quiet moments, and a dedicated golf simulator and gym space for leisure. The material palette is light and natural, blending warm grey render, stone, and timber tones to create a calm and timeless environment.

This home exemplifies how contemporary architecture can nurture family connection across generations, offering flexibility and a strong sense of belonging within a single integrated design.
